Everest Base Camp is the most loved and desired trekking destination in Nepal by trekkers from worldwide. It is the wish of many people to land on the Everest, Khumbu region where the highest mountain of the world lies, Mount Everest (8848 m). Before preparing to trek in Everest Base Camp, it is necessary to understand the required time frame, altitude, difficulty and distance. 3. Difficulty level of Everest Base Camp Trek

Everest Base Camp Trek difficulty level is graded as challenging (3). This trek takes around 12 – 13 days from Lukla to return back to Lukla. During the trek each day we have to go to the higher altitude upto 5550 m (Kalapathar) from the height of Lukla (2840 m) which makes this trek quite difficult. One has to be physically fit to complete this trek. We will have to walk along the mountain trails throughout the trek (rocky terrain). 

4. Best Season to do Everest Base Camp Trek

The best season to do Everest Base Camp Trek is spring (March – mid May) and autumn (mid-September – November). These are the best trekking month as well as weather is good with the beautiful visibility of Mountains and weather is also lovely for trekking.

If anyone wants to trek to Everest Base Camp Trek during winter then Late Nov-Feb where the temperature is around -15°C during the day and very cold during the night. There are snow on the way to Base Camp as well as we have chances of seeing live snow during the trek.

5. Other Information

Everest Base Camp Trek is quite challenging but with the appropriate assistance and itinerary the trek can be done easily. Also, the Everest Base Camp Trek can be extended to Gokyo Chola Pass if the client wants to explore Gokyo Ri (5360 m) and do one of the highest pass, Chola Pass (5330 m) and continue the trek to Everest Base Camp (5365 m). It takes another 3 days extra to do the EBC- Gokyo – Chola Pass trek. The other option for doing EBC trek who do not want to take flight from Kathmandu to Lukla can do the trek from Jiri. This will take other extra 3 days for the completion of the trek.

Another important information is flight of Lukla. There are regular flights from Kathmandu – Lukla – Kathmandu for all season. But there are chances of flight being held on all season, but due to more traffic of people in autumn usually the airlines conduct flight from Ramechhap due to which clients will have to travel by vehicle to Ramechhap from Kathmandu and then take flight to Lukla. There are very less chances of flight being cancelled when conducted from Ramechhap.
