Detail Itinerary for Bhutan Gangtey Trek


Day 01: Kathmandu - Arrival Paro - Thimphu

This day we enjoy the scenic mountain flights to Paro where we can see the Himalayan range from over the foothills. After arrival in Paro you have to clear the customs and immigration. We get the VISA copy and clearance letter there. Your guide will be waiting you outside the terminal building to welcome you and then you drive towards Thimpu. You can roam around the city in the evening. Stay overnight in Hotel. 


Day 02: Thimphu

After breakfast we will get ready for sightseeing. We will visit medieval monastery “Tashicho Dzong”, houses of most Government’s office with room of King’s throne. Then we visit National library, Traditional School of Arts & Crafts, Handicrafts Emporium, Memorial Chorten, Takin Sanctuary, Zilukha Nunnery, Indigenous Hospital, Heritage Museum and Zangdopelri temple. If time is available then we will also visit paper factory and other sights. Stay overnight in Hotel.


Day 03: Thimphu - Gangtey Gompa

After breakfast we will continue the drive to Gangtey Gompa. On the way we will drive over Douchula Pass (3080 m) and spent some time enjoying the scene. We will see the beautiful views of Himalayas like: Masagang (7158m), Terigang (7060 m), Tsendagang (696m), Zongphugang (7060 m), Kangphugang (7170 m), Jejegangphugang (7158 m) and so on. We will also visit the town of Wangdue. Thenafter we will drive to Gangtey Gompa. Stay overnight at Guest House. 


Day 04: Gangtey Gompa - Gogona

We will be starting the trek to Gogona (15 km) which takes about 6/7 hours of walk. The trek starts from Tabiting (2830 m), we have to walk in the forest of Juniper, Rhododendrons and bamboo through the meadows & fields and ascend via Tselela pass (3440 m). We can see the settlement and culture of people called Bjop-kha (language spoken by nomads in Bhutan). At noon we reach Gogona village and there is monastery under the care of Gangtey Gompa. Stay overnight at Guest House.


Day 05: Gogona – Khotokha

After breakfast we will be trek from Gogona to Khotokha (16km) which takes about 6/7 hours of walk. We have to ascend to Shobjula pass (3410 m) then descend to Khotokha from where we can see the panoramic views of mountains. Stay overnight at Guest House.


Day 06: Khotokha - Tikke Zampa / Punakha

After breakfast we will be trek from Khotokha to Tikke Zampa (12 km) which takes about 5 hours of walk. After ascending for a while we reach Tashila pass (2800 m) then we descend towards Tikke Zampa from where we will catch the vehicle to Punakha. It takes 30 min to reach Punakha. Stay overnight in Hotel.


Day 07: Punakha – Thimphu- Paro

After breakfast we hike to Chhimi Lhakhang (temple of the divine madman) which takes about 2 hours of walk. Then after we wil drive towards Thimpu (3 hours) and Paro (2 hours). Stay overnight in Hotel.


Day 08: Paro

After breakfast we will hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang) which takes around 4 hours. It is one of the famous Bhutanese monastery. Then after visit National Museum, Farm House and Local Market of Paro. Stay overnight in Hotel.


Day 09: Departure

After breakfast, our correspondent will come to depart you. We will transfer to airport for the departure. Fly towards your destination
